New Event Series Annoucement: Artist Narratives

DACS is delighted to launch Artist Narratives, an online event series inviting leading female voices from across the arts to reflect on their practice and share their visions for the future.

In a year where female artists are leading the charge, outstanding creative legacies are being rediscovered and celebrated. Historically marginalised artists are increasingly taking centre stage among major collections and international fairs. But at a time of political and social uncertainty, how do we ensure that a diversity of experience is represented and what does the future hold for next generation of artists?

Speakers include: Rose English, Ferren Gipson, Lindsey Mendick, Paloma Proudfoot, Alia Syed, Gilane Tawadros, Jean Wainwright.

About the Events

Thursday 14 July, 5pm

Alia Syed in conversation with Gilane Tawadros

A conversation on storytelling, time and memory within themes of culture, diaspora and location.

Equally at home in the cinema or gallery setting, Syed’s experimental filmmaking deepens our understanding of cultural identity and diaspora. Set against the backdrop of multi-cultural Britain, Syed weaves intimate and heartfelt narratives, her elegant storytelling always alluding to broader universal themes of time and memory. An artist with a singular vision, Syed will share details of her process and how it has enabled her to connect with her wider community and sense of self.
