DACS joins the Gallery Climate Coalition
DACS is proud to become a member of the GCC community and more broadly to work with our artists and artist estate members, and the wider visual arts sector towards collaborative solutions for greater climate security and equality.
The Gallery Climate Coalition (GCC) is a charity founded by a voluntary group of London-based gallerists and professionals working in the commercial arts sector as an attempt to develop a meaningful and industry-specific response to the growing climate crisis.
Climate change and climate equality critically impact the social and financial sustainability and security of visual artists. DACS’ mission to transform the financial landscape for visual artists must be rooted in joining the fight against climate insecurity. Through convening and collaborating with our members and wider visual arts community, we hope to provide a platform for knowledge exchange on solutions and actions we can all participate in. Joining Gallery Climate Change (GCC) helps us move forward together as a community against the threats to our climate and how we can all reduce carbon emissions.

Artists are, of course, the centre of the art world ecosystem. The decisions they make affect the entire supply chain. By using this influence, artists can help accelerate our sector’s transition to low impact operations. But perhaps more importantly, artists can engage public audiences with environmental issues on an emotional level, in a way that transcends facts, figures and politics. We need artists to respond to the climate crisis both practically and creatively.
As an organisation working to support over 100,000 artists worldwide, we are delighted DACS is joining the Gallery Climate Coalition today.

Art+Environment events series
We are pleased to be partnering with GCC on a series of events exploring the impact of climate instability on the arts and artists and looking at how the visual arts sector is working towards more sustainable practices and a decarbonised future.
Heath Lowndes of GCC will be chairing our next event Choosing Sustainability featuring Mariele Neudecker, Gautier Deblonde and Sarah Staton on 25 May, 5-6pm.
